We are hoping to expand Sabin School’s gardens and deepen student engagement. If you would like to participate in any of the following volunteer job descriptions, please contact Isabel LaCourse at [email protected] or 503-916-6707. No previous experience needed! You will be trained and given the tools necessary to help our students and gardens grow. 1. "On Your Own" Garden Maintenance: Work in Sabin Gardens on your own time with instruction provided for a variety of garden tasks. Volunteers meet biweekly with the garden educator to formulate work plans. Hours: 3-10 hours per month. 2. Classroom Assistants: Sabin is now an OSU Extension 4-H school! This partnership will greatly increase our access to quality and classroom-tested curriculum, lesson plans, and project kits. Coordinate with the garden educator and classroom teachers to increase your child's classroom participation in the gardens. Typical classroom garden times are 2:00-3:00pm. Hours: 3-10 hours per month. 3. Seed Starting Support: Assist the garden educator with the seed starting program by maximizing production. Preferred hours: 20 minutes per day. This is a great shared position! 4. Work Party Point Person: Assist the garden educator in planning monthly or bi-monthly community work parties for Sabin School's edible and native gardens. Hours: 4-8 hrs per month.
