On January 23, the Portland School Board unanimously approved boundary changes designed to balance enrollment at several Northeast Portland schools. These changes will ease over-crowding at Alameda Elementary School by sending more students to Sabin Elementary and Irvington Elementary. Rigler K-8 will be converted to a K-5, and Rigler middle-grade students will be moved to Beaumont Middle School. The plan also ends middle school guarantees for Sabin students. The changes will take effect in September.
